Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how VDO Editor ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the VDO Editor mobile application (the "App") and the website vdo-app.com. We built VDO Editor to be private by design: your videos, photos, and audio are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
1. The short version
- Your media never leaves your device. Editing, captioning, text-to-speech, background removal, and export all run locally.
- We collect a small amount of account information if you choose to sign in (email address and name).
- We collect anonymized usage analytics and crash reports to fix bugs and improve the App. These are never linked to your identity.
- We do not show ads, use advertising identifiers (such as IDFA), track you across other apps, or sell your data.
2. Information we collect
Account information (optional)
You can use VDO Editor without creating an account. If you choose to sign in — with email and password, Google, or Apple — we collect your email address and, where provided by the sign-in provider, your display name. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. You may also use anonymous sign-in, in which case no personal information is collected.
Purchase information
If you subscribe to VDO Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, processes an anonymized app user identifier and purchase receipt to validate your subscription and unlock Pro features across your devices.
Usage analytics
We collect anonymized events about how the App is used (for example, which editing tools are opened, whether an export succeeds, and whether the paywall is shown). These events are processed by Google Firebase Analytics. They are never associated with your account, email, or any user identifier, and analytics collection is only active in production builds of the App.
Crash and diagnostic data
If the App crashes or encounters an error, a diagnostic report is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics. This includes technical information such as device model, operating system version, the App version, and a stack trace of the error. Crash reports are anonymous and are not linked to your account.
Sticker and GIF search
When you search for stickers or GIFs inside the App, your search query is sent to KLIPY, the third-party service that provides this content, in order to return results. We do not store your search queries.
3. Information we do NOT collect
- Your videos, photos, audio recordings, or any project content — these stay on your device.
- Your location.
- Your contacts, messages, or data from other apps.
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA / AAID). VDO Editor contains no advertising and performs no cross-app tracking.
4. How we use information
- To provide sign-in and sync your Pro subscription across devices.
- To process and manage subscriptions.
- To understand which features are used and improve the App.
- To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Third-party services
VDO Editor uses the following third-party services, each of which processes data as described above and in their own privacy policies:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Authentication | Account sign-in | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google Firebase Analytics | Anonymized usage analytics | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | revenuecat.com/privacy |
| KLIPY | Sticker & GIF search | klipy.com/privacy |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Payment processing | Apple / Google policies |
6. Data retention
Account information is retained until you delete your account. Anonymized analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase according to its standard retention periods and cannot be traced back to you. Your editing projects and media are stored only on your device and are under your control.
7. Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. See our account deletion page for instructions. Once deleted, your account information is removed from our authentication systems and cannot be recovered.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we collect very little personal information, most of these requests can be satisfied by deleting your account. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@vdo-app.com.
9. Children's privacy
VDO Editor is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Account data is protected by industry-standard security provided by Google Firebase, including encryption in transit. Since your media never leaves your device, the most sensitive data — your creative work — is protected by your device's own security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will be highlighted in the App or on this website.
12. Contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at support@vdo-app.com.
